Presence as Art.
Sanctuary is a moving portrait series exploring presence as both a human necessity and a rare condition in an age of constant distraction.
Each portrait unfolds in real time: a single uninterrupted ninety-second take, filmed with a locked camera. The series is structured as 108 portraits, capturing individuals immersed in what they are doing—moments where attention, body, and environment align.
In a culture that continually fragments attention, Sanctuary offers a counterpoint: stillness, ritual, craft, and movement allowed to unfold without interruption.
The premise is simple: the most real moments of being human occur when we are fully present.
Through these portraits, viewers are invited to slow down and recognize the quiet significance of sustained attention—not as performance, but as a shared human capacity.
At its core, Sanctuary asks a direct question:
When am I truly present?
